What it is
AHAM Verifide is run by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, an industry association. It is a private program, not a government standard. Its site describes AHAM’s standard for measuring an air cleaner as the Clean Air Delivery Rate, or CADR, and keeps a directory of certified room air cleaners.
EPA’s guide to air cleaners in the home says most portable air cleaners are rated according to their clean air delivery rate, and reproduces an example label with AHAM’s permission.

What it does not promise
- It is not a government program, and printing its name does not bring a listing’s other claims under it. The coverage figures and percentages on these listings are the sellers’ words, not AHAM’s.
- None of the listings that print AHAM also prints a CADR figure, so the site has no program number to repeat for any of them.
