An assistant already running in the house, of the kind the listing names. Ten listings name at least one, and one of them names an assistant and then says only.
What happens without it
The listing does not say what the device does for a household that runs a different assistant, or none. The site confirms no compatibility a listing does not state, in either direction.
The listing that names one, and only one
The Amazon Basics smart bulb states that it works with Alexa only
. It is the plainest statement of a prerequisite in the catalog: an assistant is required, and the listing says which. Every other listing that names an assistant either names more than one or names one without the word only, and the site does not read a single name as a restriction unless the listing says so.
How the names are counted
Names are counted exactly as printed. Alexa is named by ten listings, Google Home by five, Google Assistant by one, Apple Home by one, Siri by one and Matter by one. Google Home and Google Assistant are kept apart because the listings spell them apart; the site does not decide that they mean the same thing.
Nothing is inferred from a brand. A listing sold under the Amazon Basics name that does not print Alexa is not counted for Alexa, and the Schlage listing’s Ring and Airbnb
are left as printed, because neither is an assistant name the site counts.
Matter, named beside the assistants
Matter appears in one listing’s title and text, beside Apple Home, Alexa, Siri and Google Home. The Connectivity Standards Alliance publishes Matter as a smart home standard, and Apple’s Home app accessories page tells shoppers to look for works with Apple Home, HomeKit or Matter. The site links both and adds nothing about how Matter works.
Amazon’s side of the word
Amazon’s developer pages describe a Works with Alexa badge that device makers can certify their products for. The listings here print phrases such as work with Alexa
and compatibility with Alexa
, and the site treats those as the sellers’ words rather than as that badge.
Listings that state it
Filled when the listing names Alexa, Google Home, Google Assistant, Apple Home, Siri or Matter. Rows: 10.
